Egypt interim PM meets martyrs' families
Prime Minister El-Ganzouri meets families of revolution's casualties, a day after heeding protesters' demands and adding Maspero and Mohamed Mahmoud Street killed to list of revolution's martyrs
Published in Ahram Online on 13 - 12 - 2011

Egypt's newly appointed interim prime minister, Kamal El-Ganzouri, is set to meet a number of families of the killed and injured during the course of the Egyptian Revolution.
This is the first meeting to be held between El-Ganzouri and the families in which he is expected to announce the initiation of the National Council for the Care of Martyrs' Families.
On Monday, El-Ganzouri approved Cabinet protesters' demands and added victims of the Maspero clashes and Mohamed Mahmoud clashes to the list of the revolution's casualties, granting them all compensations and benefits.
Protesters have maintained a sit-in in front of the Cabinet's office for more than two weeks, denying El-Ganzouri access to Cabinet's conventional offices and forcing the newly appointed Cabinet to convene at the ministry of planning. Following workers' protests Monday in front of the latter ministry, El-Ganzouri and his fellow ministers relocated yet again to the ministry of investment.
At least 40 protesters were killed during violent clashes with security and military forces around Mohammed Mahmoud Street and Tahrir Square in late November, while 27 protesters were killed during a bloody clampdown by military forces around Egypt's state-run TV and radio offices (Maspero) on 9 October.
