Liverpool's Salah wins PFA Player of the Month award

Egypt and Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has won the Professional Footballer's Association's Player of the Month award for December; landing the prize for the second successive month.
Liverpool's No.11, who is second in the Premier league top scorers' list with 17 goals, earned 50 per cent of the public vote in the poll, Liverpool said on their official website on Monday.
Salah's teammate Philippe Coutinho, Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and Tottenham striker Harry Kane (the league's top scorer) were all competing for the award along with the Egyptian international.
Salah scored six goals and provided four assists during eight appearances in December, helping Liverpool to five wins and three draws.
The former Chelsea, Fiorentina and AS Roma man also won both the PFA and EA SPORTS Player of the Month awards for November.
The 25-year-old was crowned African player of the year for 2017 on Thursday in a ceremony in Accra, beating off competitors Sadio Mane of Senegal and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon.
Salah – who also won the BBC African player of the year– was rewarded for his performance in 2017 in achieving a lot of successes on the club and country levels.
He played an instrumental role in guiding Egypt to the final of the 2017 African Cup of Nations after a seven-year drought, as well as realising their long-held dream of reaching the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
Switching to Liverpool from AS Roma for an African and club record of €42million, he proved to be worth every penny since the summer.
Salah bagged 23 goals in 29 games in all competitions before the new year, shattering previous records of several Liverpool's legends, including Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler and Kenny Dalglish, and equalling the record set by Roger Hunt in 1961.
