Egypt's Salah promises to end Liverpool's title drought
Published in Ahram Online on 22 - 12 - 2017

Egypt and Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has expressed his eagerness to revive the glory days of the English Premier League side this season, saying he intends to win a trophy with The Reds.
"We are working hard every day to win something and I am sure we will this year," Salah told Skysports on Friday.
"I am always saying I want to win titles here," he said.
Liverpool, who have won 18 league titles, haven't ended on top of the table since 1990. They last won a trophy in 2012 when they beat Cardiff in the League Cup final.
"I came here to win titles. To win something for the club, for us, for the fans. I would love to win something here," the Egyptian winger added.
Salah, who joined Liverpool last summer from Serie A side Roma, has hit the headlines in England, scoring 20 goals in 25 appearances on all fronts with Liverpool so far. He's currently the Premier League's top scorer with a 14-goal tally.
The 25-year-old has also been included on the final shortlist for the 2017 African Player of the Year award, competing with his teammate Senegalese forward Sadio Mane and Borussia Dortmund's Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Liverpool are currently fourth in the Premier League team table with 34 points, 18 points behind leaders Manchester City.
The Egyptian winger touched on his rivalry with teammate Mane over the the 2017 African Player of the Year award, saying the Senegalese player is his closest friend in the squad.
"We are friends," Salah said. "We are very close to each other. Maybe he is my closest friend here in the team.
"We are friends, we like each other, he's a great guy and a fantastic player who is very fast, with quality and confidence.
"I am very happy to share everything in Africa with him, so I'm very happy also for him," the Egyptian star concluded.
In November, Salah was rewarded for his brilliant run of form with the EA Sports Player of the Month award. He is the first Egyptian to win the Player of the Month award in Premier League history.
He also won the BBC African Footballer of the Year award for 2017, beating Mane and Aubameyang.
