Zamalek labored to a 1-0 home win over lower-tier Minya to advance to the Egypt Cup last-16, thanks to a superb strike from hitman Kabongo Kasongo. After an unimpressive first half from the Cairo giants, Nibojsa Jovovic's men regrouped after the break – with striker Kasongo hitting the winner three minutes from the hour-mark. After a commendable effort from winger Abdallah Gomaa to get the ball back, a lovely looping through-ball from midfielder Ahmed Daouda allowed the Congolese to hit a powerful strike past the keeper to put Zamalek in front. The Whites, who missed Tarek Hamed and Ali Gabr due to international commitment, wasted a slew of chances to increase their advantage but were let down by some sloppy decision-making in the final third. Zamalek will meet another lower tier-side in Haras El-Hodoud in the competition's last-16.
