An administrative court in Assiut, Upper Egypt, on Sunday postponed parliamentary elections in the city's second constituency in order to change the designation of a candidate, Mohamed Abdel Moneim Zein El-Korshy, from professional to farmer. However, despite the court's ruling, polling stations in the consistency opened on Monday because the local electoral committee had not received the court's ruling. According to the Constituional Declaration in forces in lieu of a constitution, a minimum of 50 percent of parliamentary seats are reserved for workers and farmers. There is less competition for seats allocated to farmers, therefore many candidates prefer to be designated to this category.
