Ahly players react after reaching CAF Champions League semis
Published in Ahram Online on 24 - 09 - 2017

Ahly team members have shared their reactions after beating Tunisian side Esperance 4-3 on aggregate in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
The Cairo giants managed to replicate their 2012 Champions League final scenario against Esperance, overcoming the Tunisians 2-1 in Rades to qualify for the competition's semis, following last week's disappointing 2-2 first-leg draw in Alexandria.
They will now face the winner from the match between Tunisia's Etoile du Sahel and Libya's Ahli Tripoli, with the first leg having already ended in a goalless draw at the latter's ground.
Ahram Online has gathered reactions from players and technical staff members following the Radis showdown.

"Beating Tunisian side Esperance away from home and reaching the CAF Champions League semi-finals is a big step towards the title," the Ahly striker was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"Ahly has some experienced players in the African championships and they are able to lift the trophy," Meteb said.
"I thank Ahly fans for supporting the team before and during the game, because they have a positive effect on the players."

"Ahly is a big team with a strong character, wherever the team plays, either at home or away from home," the Ahly goalkeeper said.
"When you play for a big team like Ahly you have to concentrate only on the coming games and forget what happened in the previous ones," Ekramy said.
"I thank all the Ahly fans for supporting the team, especially when they backed me ahead of the second-leg game in Tunisia, forgetting what happened in the first leg in Alexandria."

"Ahly have managed to beat a great team like Esperance in Tunisia, and hopefully the players can maintain their performance in the coming games," Ahly's Tunisian right-back told the club's official website after the match.
"Ahly were able to score more than two goals goals, but due to some bad luck the match ended with just a 2-1 win," Maaloul added.

"After beating Esperance here in Tunisia, my first hope is to lift the CAF Champions League trophy with Ahly as it's the only title that I didn't win with team," the Ahly forward said.

"Ahly showed a lot of character during the 2-1 win over Esperance in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals," the Ahly defender said.
"All the players did their best to please Ahly fans and they are capable of achieving their aim of winning the title."
