Egypt's Chief-of-Staff Mahmoud Hegazy met on Thursday with Japanese state minister of defence Tomohiro Yamamoto in Cairo where they discussed military relations between the two countries, the Egyptian defence ministry announced. Hegazy and Yamamoto discussed the developments in the Middle East and their reflection on the region and the world. Hegazy praised the historical relations between Egypt and Japan, expressing his aspiration to expand the partnership and cooperation between the two countries. The meeting was attended by a number of Egyptian military officials and the Japanese ambassador in Cairo. On Tuesday, Japanese foreign minister Taro Kono met with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo as part of six-day tour in the Middle East region.
