Egypt's foreign affairs ministry warned citizens visiting the Schengen area in Europe to enter via the country that had issued their visa, according to a statement on Sunday. The ministry said the warning comes after authorities at Frankfurt Airport refused to allow a number of Egyptians to enter because they had obtained a Schengen visa from a country other than Germany. The Schengen visa holders who were rejected entry in Frankfurt, according to Egypt's statement, were persuaded by travel agencies to obtain their visas from another country, other than their main destination, on the basis that the visa would take less time. The Schengen area encompasses 26 European countries that have agreed to allow free movement of individuals within the area, without internal border checks.
