Egypt's military council apologises for fallen victims and promises to set up field hospital in Tahrir
Apology by ruling junta unlikely to appease protesters as clashes continue in Tahrir Square this morning

The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) has officially apologised for the deaths of martyrs killed during the ongoing Tahrir clashes and promised to bring those responsible to justice in a communiqué issued on its official Facebook page this morning.
“SCAF is extremely sorry for the fallen martyrs of the children of Egypt in the latest incidents in Tahrir Square,” the ruling military junta said in its 84th communiqué. “SCAF presents its condolences to the families of martyrs throughout Egypt.”
In the communiqué SCAF went on to promise a swift investigation into the violence and prosecute those responsible.
The council also announced it would set up a field hospital in Tahrir Square to treat injured protesters and pledged to support the families of martyrs and those injured during the latest clashes.
At the end of the communiqué SCAF promised to do its best to prevent such clashesfromoccurringagain.
