Published in Ahram Online on 30 - 07 - 2017

After making history on Saturday with claiming Egypt's first-ever medal in the World Championships, Egyptian swimmer Farida Osman has expressed her pleasure with this achievement.
The 22-year-old Osman won the bronze medal in the women's 50m butterfly final in Budapest yesterday, achieving a 25.39s to claim Egypt's first-ever medal in the World Championships.
"I am still in shock this actually happened," Farida wrote on her facebook page on Sunday.
"I am humbled and honored to have represented Egypt in this historic moment for me, the sport and the country."
"This has been a dream for me and I hope this is just the beginning." Farida added.
"I would like to thank my coach Teri McKeever for helping me along this journey and my whole Cal Women's Swimming & Diving family, and the Egyptian Swimming Federation."
"Most importantly, I would like to thank everyone for showing me the love and support before, during and after the race,"
"I could really feel it all last night! Here's to many more in the future." Farida concluded.
Egypt's golden swimmer Farida Osman broke the African record for the third time in this event, topping her previous mark set at the semis by 0.25s.
She missed the silver by 0.01s to Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands, while the gold was claimed by Sarah Sjoestroem of Sweden, who swam a 24.60s.
