Egyptian swimmer Mohamed Khaled Hussein failed to reach the men's 200m individual medley final at the FINA World Championships in Budapest. Hussein came in the 17th place in the semi final race on Wednesday, timing 2:00.68 minutes. Japan's Kosuke Hagino came at the top of the heats, with a time of 1:56.46 m. Earlier on Wednesday, Egypt's Mohamed Samy also failed to reach the men's 100m freestyle final after ending the semis with a time of 49.42 seconds. Australia's Cameron McEvoy topped the heats, timing 47.97 s. Also on Wednesday, Egypt team did not start the mixed 4 x 100m medley relay event. The United States broke the world record for the mixed 4x100m medley relay as the country's quartet of Ryan Murphy, Kevin Cordes, Kelsei Worrell and Mallory Comerford clocked 3mins 40.28secs to break the previous record of 3:41.71 set by Great Britain two years ago in Kazan. The FINA World Championships – or World Aquatics Championships – are the main global competition for aquatic sports: swimming, diving, high-diving, open-water swimming, synchronized swimming, and water polo. The tournament runs from 14 to 30 July this year. Egypt is represented in the prestigious event by some of the country's swimming stars of recent years, notably Ahmed Akram, who finished fourth in the 1,500-metre freestyle at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships. Also competing is Farida Osman, who came fifth at the 2015 women's 50m butterfly final with a time of 25.78 seconds.
