Egypt's House of Representatives approved on Wednesday the draft general budget for the fiscal year 2017 /2018, referring it to the State Council for approval. The House of Representatives also sent its recommendations regarding the budget, worth 1 trillion and 206 billion Egyptian pounds, to the government. The draft general budget for FY2017/2018 includes the draft economic and social development plan for 2017/2018. The House of Representatives will hold its next session on the draft general budget on 3 July, after the Eid Al-Fitr holiday. The 2016/2017 general budget totalled 1 trillion and 256 billion pounds. The parliament also approved the draft budget for the House of Representatives for FY 2017/2018 with EGP 1.3 billion allocated for salaries, compensation, services and merchandise purchases and non-financial assets purchases.
