Cameroon beat Morocco, Nigeria lose at home to South Africa in African qualifiers

African champions Cameroon kicked off their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a vital 1-0 home victory over rivals Morocco in Yaoundé on Saturday.
A 24th-minute goal from Besiktas striker Vincent Aboubakar was enough to give the Indomitable Lions all three points to move top of Group B, level on points with Malawi - who beat Comoros 1-0 earlier in the day.
Attempting to make amends for their failure to reach this year's Cup of Nations finals in Gabon, Nigeria's bid was not helped after succumbing to a 2-0 home defeat bySouth Africa.
A 54th-minute header from Rantie Tokelo gave the visitors the lead before a solo couter-attacking goal from Percy Tau eight minutes from time meant the Super Eagles failed to get off to a winning start in Uyo.
South Africa are second with an inferior goal difference to leaders Libya, who emphatically thrashed Seychelles 5-1 to top the group.
