Nigeria miss out o next year's Africa Cup of Nations following their 2-2 home draw against South Africa on Wednesday, Congo go through after defeating Sudan
Title holders Nigeria snatched a last-gasp 2-2 draw at home to South Africa but failed to reach next year's African Cup of Nations after Congo claimed a 1-0 win at Sudan on Wednesday.
Striker Tokelo Rantie stunned the hosts in Abuja with a brace in the 42nd and 48th minutes but Nigeria midfielder Sone Aluko responded with another double salvo, including a goal in stoppage time, but it was not enough to lift the Super Eagles through.
Nigeria finished third in Group A with eight points, two behind second-placed Congo and six adrift of already-qualified South Africa.
