Preview: Smouha aim to go clear in Confed Cup against Sudan's Hilal Obayed
Published in Ahram Online on 03 - 06 - 2017

Egypt's Smouha will be eager to remain in charge of their Confederation Cup Group C when they host Sudan's Hilal Obayed at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium on Saturday.
Going into the third group game level on three points with Hilal, Zambia's ZESCO United and Angola's Recreativo, the Alexandrians - who are in charge on goal difference - will be eager to go points clear on top of the table.
An injury-hit Smouha side did manage to beat Recreativo at home in their previous group game, prevailing 2-0 thanks to goals from Ahmed Raouf and Islam Mohareb.
And with keeper Mahdi Soliman joining an ever-growing injury list - including the likes of Ahmed Temsah, Yasser Ibrahim and Mansou Kouakou - with a cruciate ligament tear, Smouha still suffer severe shortage heading into their African clash.
Moemen Soliman's men, who are currently fifth of the Egyptian league standings, are vying for the Confederation Cup-qualifying third place, only seven points behind third-placed Zamalek with four games remaining.
Zamalek will be deducted three points by the end of the season for forfeiting a league game against Maqassa, keeping the race for the third place wide open.
