Egyptian Premier League title holders Ahly are aiming to consolidate their lead of the league when they meet Ittihad of Alexandria Tuesday on match-day 24 at Borg El-Arab stadium, 18:00 Cairo time (GMT +2).
With a game in hand, Ahly are currently leading the league table with 58 points, four points over second-place Maqassa and 18 over arch-rivals Zamalek.
Coach Hossam El-Badry will have to do without key defender Ahmed Hegazy who will be sidelined for a week due to fatigue from a groin injury. The player so will also miss Sunday's game against Aswan.
"Hegazy will undergo a rehabilitation program before he can get back to regular trainings," said assistant coach Saued Abdel-Hafiz on the club's official website.
The team's rising star Ivorian striker Souleymane Coulibaly has been called up for the game's 21-man squad and is expected to score. The player currently scores at a rate of one goal every 41 minutes.
"Coulibaly is a very important player. He is proving his worth in each game he plays by scoring," the 57-year-old tactician El-Badry said.
The Reds squad will also be boosted by the return of Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi who has recovered from injury as well as Tunisian winger Ali Maaloul.
Ittihad, who are currently 9th on the table with 30 points from 22 games, were able to draw 2-2 with Ahly in the first round.
