Ahly's Abou-Treika accepts decision to drop him from Pharaohs' squad Ahly stalwart 'respects' decision to sideline him for Brazil friendly, says it will motivate him to regain his place
Veteran Ahly midfielder Mohamed Abou-Treika has said he accepts the decision of Egypt's American coach Bob Bradley to drop him from the squad to face Brazil in a friendly on 14 November in Qatar. “I respect the coach's decision as he is responsible for the team and is working in its best interests,” Abou-Treika told Ahram Online. “I am angry at being left out of the squad but I hope my teammates do their best for Egypt during the match. “All Egyptian players work hard when they wear Egypt's national team jersey. “Leaving me out of the Egypt squad will motivate me to do my best for Ahly so as to meet Bradley's expectations in the future. “I am confident of Egypt's ability to get an honourable result against Brazil to please all the Arabs.” Egypt last met Brazil in a thrilling Confederations Cup match in 2009 under the country's most successful coach, Hassan Shehata. The seven-time African champions put up a brave fight but suffered a 4-3 defeat, thanks to a stoppage-time penalty from 2007 World Player of the Year Kaka.
