Tunisia coach Kasperczak sacked ahead of Egypt match
Published in Ahram Online on 08 - 04 - 2017

The Tunisian Football Federation announced Friday firing national team coach Henryk Kasperczak after recent humble performances in March's friendly matches.
"The board have decided to sack Kasperczak. The new coach will be announced before the end of the current month," read a brief statement on the Tunisian Football Federation's official website.
Late March, Tunisia lost 1-0 against Cameroon and Morocco respectively amid the Carthage Eagles' preparations for their match against Egypt in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, due to be played between 5 and 13 June.
The North African rivals Egypt and Tunisia have been paired together and will go head to head in the first round of matches alongside Niger and Swaziland in Group J.
The winners of the 12 groups will join hosts Cameroon in the tournament finals along with the three best runners-up.
The Polish coach Kasperczak, 70, was reappointed by Tunisia in 2015, guiding them to the 2017 African Cup of Nations finals where they were eliminated from the quarterfinals following a 2-0 loss to Burkina Faso.
Under the former Senegal and Mali coach, Tunisia were progressing well at the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers — currently sharing the Group A summit with DR Congo with six points each — after beating group opponents Libya and Guinea. Their next match will be against DR Congo in August.
