Launching their World Cup qualifying campaign in style with a 2-0 win at home to Guinea on Sunday, Tunisia's players earned praise from coach Henryk Kasperczak. "I'm satisfied with respect to the team's preparation and mindset," Kasperczak was quoted as saying on Tunisian Jawhara FM after the game. Defender Ayman Abdennour opened scoring for the hosts with a fine header in the 58th minute before midfielder Anis Ben-Hatira sealed the win ten minutes from time with a low angled shot from inside the area. "We were so good in the first period, but we took more opportunities after the break," he added. "We controlled the game. Anis Ben-Hatira—our wild card—found an opportunity to score a goal," the Tunisia coach said. Sunday's win allowed Tunisia to go joint top along with DR Congo, who hammered Libya 4-0 on Saturday. Tunisia will face Libya in the second round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers Group A on 7 November. The winners of the five groups will reach the 2018 World Cup in Russia 2018.
