Hattetakhar ala el-thawra (You'll be late for the revolution)by Samuli Schielke, translated by Amr Khairy, Cairo: Dar Nafeesa for Science and Literature, 2011. Schielke arrived in Egypt on 31 January 2011 to observer Egypt's uprising. He didn't believe Egyptians would have a revolution like Tunisia, so was taken by surprise and wrote his daily blog updates with this background in his mind. “In the course of a week I transformed from an anthropological observer sympathetic with the events, into an activist committed to the revolution even at personal risk,” Schielke explains in the introduction to the book made up of blog entries. Schielke is an anthropologist born in Helsinki, Finland. He studied Islamic studies, philosophy and political science at the University of Bonn and now is a fellow researcher at the Zentrum Moderner Orient in Berlin. Al-Kabina Library in Alexandria will be hosting a book signing and discussion with Schielke on Tuesday, 15 November.
