Egypt's FM Shoukry heads to Jordan to deliver message from Sisi to King Abdullah II

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is set to fly to Amman Tuesday evening for talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II, and to deliver a message from Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
In statements to state owned news agency MENA, Egyptian foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said that Shoukry will meet with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Al-Safadi and Prime Minister Hany Mulki to discuss bolstering bilateral relations in all fields to serve the interests of both countries.
Abu Zeid said that Egyptian-Jordanian relations constitute a main pillar of strength in the Arab world.
The spokesman added that the officials would hold talks on several issues of common interest, including ways to resolve crises in countries like Syria, Libya, Yemen, and Iraq.
The Palestinian cause would also be on the agenda, the spokesman said, along with current efforts to combat terrorism and extremism in the region.
The leaders will also coordinate on preparations for Jordan's hosting of the Arab League next month.
In January, Egypt's El-Sisi was officially invited by King Abdullah to attend the upcoming Arab League summit in Jordan in March.
The invitation was relayed by then-Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, who arrived in Cairo last month for talks with the Egyptian President on bilateral ties and regional developments.
The Arab League's 28th session will be the second Arab League summit attended by El-Sisi since he came to office in 2014.
The Egyptian president was represented by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail at the league's 27th session in Mauritania in March 2016, which hosted only a limited number of Arab leaders.
Egypt hosted the Arab League's 2015 summit in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, at which time El-Sisi proposed the creation of a joint Arab military force.
Jordan was designated as host of the league's 28th session after Yemen declined to serve as host.
