The media spokesperson of Egypt's Ministry of Interior apologised on air during a TV programme with the family and friend of Moataz Anwar Soliman, who was shot dead by two police officers on 28 October The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has issued an official apology to the family of 24-year-old Moataz Anwar Soliman, who was brutally shot by two police officers last week. The ministry's media spokesperson, Marawan Mustafa, apologised during a phone call to the 90-minute programme on El Mehwar Channel, where Soliman's mother, brother and friend who was with him during the shooting, were guests. Soliman was killed early 28 October in the city of Sheikh Zayed when two policemen fired at him when he was in a car with his friend. Mustafa said that the ministry is sorry for this “painful incident,” and that everyone in the ministry, including Minister Mansour El-Eissawy, offer their condolences to Soliman's family. Mustafa, however, refused to confirm circulating reports that one of the officers who shot Soliman is mentally unstable, reasoning that the case is now under investigation and he cannot publicly comment on it.
