Spanish director presents Wednesday an Egyptianised Blood Wedding by Lorca
The Gounhoureya Theatre hosts the opening of Blood Wedding, by Spanish playwrite, Frederico Garcia Lorca, adapted for Egypt by Marco Magoa
Published in Ahram Online on 29 - 10 - 2011

Spanish actor and director, Marco Magoa, has been working for a year on an adaptation of the play Bodas de Sangre (Blood Wedding) by renowned author and poet, Frederico Garcia Lorca in 1932.
The conflict in the play centres on a wedding in a small town and the struggle between traditions, family rules and passion.
After a relationship didn't work out in their teens, a man (Leonardo) and a woman (known as Bride) still cannot let go of their love for each other. Many revelations in the play revolve around destiny; which mysteriously moves and leaves impressions on each life.
Despite the fact that Leonardo is married with child and the Bride is... well... getting married to different promising chap, they run away together.
A family feud complicates things, in a time where feuds were still not uncommonly complicating things in Spain.
Although Lorca set the play in Spain, because of the universality of the topics this adaptation translates the action to an Egyptian setting.
Magoa presents this project with cooperation of the 6th of October University and under the Spanish Embassy, who have decided to hold the play free of charge for the audience.
