Workers at the Alexandria Flour Mills & Bakeries company (AFMC) have threatened to down tools and cut production at the company's five branches in Alexandria if their financial demands are not met. Workers staged a protest on Thursday demanding their annual bonus be raised to 10 times their salaries instead of its current four times. AFMC registered a net profit of LE2.182 million in 3Q2011, a drop of 43 per cent on the same period last year.
