A kindergarten student was killed and 18 others were injured in a collision between a microbus and a truck in Beheira governorate Wednesday morning, Ahram Arabic website reported. The collision took place in Edfina, Beheira when a microbus carrying 17 kindergarten students collided with a truck carrying bricks. According to Ahram Arabic website, the microbus driver said he was trying to avoid another car when he collided with the truck. Both drivers and 16 students were injured and transferred to hospitals in Alexandria and Kafr El-Sheikh governorates to receive treatment. The Prosecution is currently investigating the causes of the accident. Deadly road accidents take place on a near-daily basis in Egypt, which is notorious for poor road safety conditions, badly maintained infrastructure and loosely enforced traffic regulations. In 2015, a total 14,548 road accidents were recorded by Egypt's official statistics agency.
