Two people were killed when a bus carrying factory workers collided with a private vehicle in the Egyptian governorate of Sharqiya, Ahram Arabic news website reported. The accident took place late on Wednesday on a road connecting two towns in the Nile Delta governorate, north of Cairo. An army officer and a driver were killed and four others wounded. Also on Wednesday, a cargo train smashed into a truck in the port city of Suez, injuring two people, state news agency MENA said. The accident occurred when a truck passed over the rails of a Cairo-bound train after a watchman left the crossing open. The collision caused parts of the train to derail. In Egypt, road accidents claim thousands of lives every year. The crashes are often blamed on badly maintained roads and loosely enforced traffic regulations. Last week, eight people died and ten were injured when a truck careened off a bridge on Cairo's Ring Road and crashed into a microbus stop below. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/183539.aspx
