Egypt assistant coach not worried by shaky form of home-based players

Egypt's assistant coach Osama Nabih leapt to the defence of some home-based players in the team's roster, saying he believes they will be fully ready for a crucial World Cup qualifier at home to Ghana on Sunday.
Cairo giants Ahly and Zamalek looked far from their best in recent league games, prompting some critics to question whether they can rise up to the challenge of facing heavyweights Ghana in Egypt's second Group E clash.
"Ahly and Zamalek players suffered from fatigue," Nabih told a TV program on Tuesday.
"They played every three or four days and their physical form was affected by the congested schedule.
"But we have the time to prepare them physically and technically before the important clash against Ghana," he added.
Nabih also played down the significance of Ghana's absences after skipper Asamoah Gyan and midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah were ruled out of the game due to injuries.
"Ghana is an excellent team and they are capable of covering for any absences," he stated.
"Our target is to win the game and take an important step forward in the qualifying campaign."
Egypt launched their Group E campaign in the World Cup qualifiers with a 2-1 away win over Congo to top the group with three points, two ahead of second-placed Ghana who were held to a disappointing goalless draw at home to Uganda.
