Egypt's Trezeguet explains Anderlecht departure
Published in Ahram Online on 09 - 09 - 2016

Egyptian midfielder, Mahmoud "Trezeguet" Hassan, who recently joined Excelsior Mouscron from Anderlecht in the Belgian league on loan, has explained his departure from his team by saying that he is working to save his place in the Pharaohs' national squad.
The 21-year-old, who gets his nickname from former France striker David Trezeguet, snubbed current Belgian league leaders Sporting Charleroi to join Mouscron after the latter had tabled a better offer as well as he is confident of booking a regular place in the team's starting lineup.
"I decided to leave Anderlecht on loan to get more experience as I knew that it's difficult to book a regular place in the team's starting lineup," Trezeguet told Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure.
"I thank Anderlecht management for finalising the deal," he added.
The Egyptian international initially joined Anderlecht on a season-long loan from Egyptian giants Ahly in the summer of 2015 and the deal was made permanent last May, although the player has struggled for form in his first season in Europe.
Trezeguet made seven league appearances, scoring once, and played one game in the Europa League last season after struggling with an injury early in the campaign.
"I don't know the reason why I am not included in Anderlecht's starting lineups, but I have indications that it's not my fault as I came from Ahly after achieving three titles with the team," Trezeguet said.
"I came to Europe to improve my career but actually I didn't find the chance to play regularly,"
"I want to play to save my place in Egypt national team squad as I want to win the African Nations Cup title next February," the Egyptian midfielder concluded.
