Dutch coach Martin Jol quits Ahly Job

Ahly's coach Martin Jol resigned from his post on Thursday, days after the club's poor results in the Egypt Cup and the CAF Champions League, ending speculations surrounding his future with the Red Devils.
The club agreed to an early cancelation of the Dutchman's contract, which was due to run until next summer.
"Ahly have amicably terminated the contract of Martin Jol at his request. He will be replaced in the interim by his assistant Ossama Orabi," read a statement on the club's official website on Thursday.
The prominent Dutch coach took charge of the team last February, helping them win their ninth Egyptian Premier League title in 10 seasons. However, a series of recent poor results incurred the wrath of Ahly's demanding fans, many of whom demanded that the board of directors sack him.
Despite the fans' anger, the club management issued a statement on Tuesday morning saying they would not make any changes in the team's technical staff before the end of this month.
A few hours later, dozens of fans stormed the club's Nasr City branch to protest against the team's recent poor results and to demand the departure of coach Martin Jol and some players, including skipper Hossam Ghaly.
Physical attacks against some players were also reported and the club's management decided to suspend the team's trainings "indefinitely."
Prior to Jol's resignation, reports had suggested that the former Tottenham coach would remain in his post following a positive meeting with the club's president Mahmoud Taher on Tuesday's night.
Ahly will end its African campaign on the 24th of this month with an away clash against Ivorian side ASEC.
