Egypt's shooter Azmy Mehelba, who was one of the favourites to give the country an Olympic medal, failed to qualify for the skeet men's semi-final on Saturday. Mehelba got a total of 120 shots in five rounds over two days in the qualification phase, missing the target five times. He finished 11th but narrowly missed out on the semis, with one shot separating him from the sixth place. Mehelba shouldered Egypt's hopes of giving the country its first ever shooting medal, having won the skeet bronze medal at the World Championship in Spain two years ago. He also won the silver medal at the 2016 ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, two months ago.
