Measure for Measure, a Jacobean play by William Shakespeare, will be performed at Cairo's Falaki Theatre daily between 27 and 31 August. Written by Shakespeare in 1603/04, “the play explores the fine line between justice and mercy, giving a range of characters having to adapt to different forms of extremism,” reads the event description on Facebook. This will mark the play's debut performance in Egypt. The play is directed by Waleed Hammad, and was translated into classical Arabic by Dr. Mohamed Anany, then adapted into colloquial Egyptian Arabic by Waleed Hammad and Omnia Taha.
