Niger qualified for the African Cup of Nations for the first time in their history despite suffering a 3-0 defeat by Egypt in Cairo on Saturday.
The Group G surprise package were no match for the Pharaohs at Cairo Stadium but were helped by South Africa's failure to beat Sierra Leone in a goalless draw in the other group match.
Niger finished level on nine points with South Africa and Sierra Leone but booked a place in next year's tournament in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon by virtue ofhaving the best recordin matches involving the three teams.
Egypt's results were excluded, leaving Niger on top with six points, one ahead of South Africa and Sierra Leone.
