Poster of Mohamed Diab's film Clash released
Published in Ahram Online on 24 - 07 - 2016

The poster of Mohamed Diab's latest film, Clash, has been released, announced MAD Solutions, a Cairo-based company that specialises in distribution, public relations and marketing for the film and entertainment industry.
The poster shows the back of a police truck, the very centre of the film's action as seen from the detainees' point of view, witnessing violent clashes and demonstrations through the iron bars holding them captive. In like manner that detainees often engrave their names on the inner walls of such trucks, the film's title is engraved on the door.
Clash premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May and was listed by the Hollywood Reporter as one of the 10 best films at the festival. It is set to be released in Egyptian cinemas on Wednesday, 27 July.
Produced in 2016, the film, written and directed by Mohamed Diab, explores in an unusual manner the confrontations that emerged after the removal of former president Mohamed Morsi from power (June 2013) between Muslim Brotherhood supporters and opponents.
Most of the film takes place inside the eight metre long police truck, with detainees representing different societal groups.
Clash features Nelly Karim, alongside Tarek Abd El-Aziz, Hany Adel, Ahmed Malek, Ashraf Hamdi, Mohamed Abdel Azim, Gamil Barsoum and others.
Diab is best known for his directorial debut, Cairo 678 (2010), starring Bushra, Nelly Karim and Maged El-Kedwany.
He has also written the scripts of several well-known Egyptian films, including El-Gezira 1 and 2 (2007 and 2014) and Decor (2014), among others.
