VIDEO: The best of the Egyptian Premier League in 2015-16
Ahram Online selects the best outfield player, goalkeeper, coach and goal in the Egyptian Premier League 2015-16 season after Ahly were crowned champions
Published in Ahram Online on 13 - 07 - 2016

1-Best player (Ramadan Sobhi, Ahly)
The 19-year-old prodigy was the standout performer as Ahly wrestled the league title from arch-rivals Zamalek, thanks to his mesmerizing skills which eventually earned him a summer move to English Premier League side Stoke City.
He has scored five league goals and created eight others, tormenting defenders with his neat footwork and impressive ability to skip past challengers in one-on-one situations.
He also single-handedly settled several games in Ahly's favour and rescued them from certain defeats with his goals and assists when his side found it difficult to break down opponents, including hitting a last-gasp equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Ghazl El-Mahalla in February.
##
2-Best goalkeeper (Ahmed El-Shennawi, Zamalek)
The 25-year-old proved to be Egypt's undisputed number one goalkeeper with another solid display between the sticks despite Zamalek's second-place finish in the Premier League.
He pulled off a series of impressive saves throughout the campaign as Zamalek finished with the second-best defensive record, having only conceded 25 goals in 34 matches, one more than champions Ahly.
Recent reports linked El-Shennawi with a shock move to bitter foes Ahly, whose number one keeper Sherif Ekramy committed some dreadful blunders last season, but he insisted he would stay put.
##
3-Top scorer (Hossam Salama 'Paolo', Smouha)
The 34-year-old continued to defy the odds after finishing as the Premier League top scorer for the second consecutive season, a feat achieved for the first time since former Egyptian international Ahmed El-Kas won the leading scorer award three times in a row from 1992-94.
Hossam Salama, nicknamed Paolo, scored 17 goals, three short of his last season's record when he was at Dakhleya, to help Smouha finish third behind Ahly and Zamalek.
His goals also included a stunning acrobatic effort that gave his side a 1-0 victory over El-Geish in their final game of the season earlier this month.
Paolo also made history when he scored after 12 seconds against Masry in April for the Premier League's fastest goal in history.
##
4-Best goal (Ashour El-Adham, Masry)
The central midfielder, who is known for his blistering shots, netted the best goal of the season in a match between Masry and El-Geish in April.
He capitalised on a poor defensive clearance to thump a right-foot volley from 30 metres in stoppage time that left the keeper with no chance.
##
5-Best coach (Hossam Hassan, Masry)
Egypt's all-time leading scorer helped an unfashionable Masry side, whose squad lack any prominent players, finish fourth to keep alive their hopes of earning a place at next year's African Confederation Cup.
This is one of the achievements in the coaching career of Hossam Hassan, who had two disappointing spells in charge of Zamalek, after he also put Jordan within touching distance of a stunning World Cup spot before they lost to Uruguay in a two-legged playoff in 2013.
Masry were close to finishing third but a 2-2 draw with relegated Ghazl El-Mahalla on the final day of the season allowed Smouha to get ahead of them virtue of a better head-to-head record.
The draw was followed by ugly scenes as Hassan was caught on video assaulting an interior ministry cameraman. He was detained for four days pending investigations on Tuesday and is likely to face a trial.
