Smouha striker Hossam Salama, nicknamed Paolo, set an Egyptian Premier League record on Sunday after scoring the fastest goal in the history of the premier domestic competition. The 34-year-old put Alexandria-based club Smouha ahead against Masry after 12 seconds to break the record set by former Zamalek player Ayman Younes who scored after 14 seconds against Suez in 1990. Paolo did so in superb fashion, meeting a long ball with a sublime right foot volley from the edge of the area which went over the keeper and into the net. Paolo, an unsung towering frontman who is repeatedly snubbed by Egypt's national team despite his exploits, finished as the Premier League top scorer last season with 20 goals although Smouha could only finish 10th. He recently said he hoped he would get a first call-up to the Egyptian national team. Paolo is the league's current top scorer with 13 goals. ## (For more sportsnews andupdates, followAhramOnlineSportson Twitter at@AO_Sportsand onFacebookatAhramOnlineSports.) http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/198671.aspx
