Egyptian Team of the Month: January
Published in FilGoal on 01 - 02 - 2012

Goalkeeper: Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed (Zamalek)
The Zamalek stalwart did not fail to live up to the fans' expectations after managing to produce a number of crucial saves that contributed to the Whites' four victories out of six during the month.
Abdul-Wahed's consistency earned him praise from the Egypt management lately, suggesting he might well return to the national team's fold.
Right-back: Ahmed Fathi (Ahli)
Arguably the most consistent Ahli performer during the past couple of years and has once again showed accomplishment in both his attacking and defensive roles down the right flank.
Egypt's first-choice right-back has been instrumental in Ahli's victories over Gaish, Police Union and Arab Contractors, scoring twice and setting up as many.
Center-half: Ahmed Duiedar (Police Union)
Continuously proving his credentials as one of the best centre backs in the league, what prompted heavyweights Ahli and Zamalek to be closely watching him during the past few seasons.
Despite the 1-0 defeat to Ahli, Duiedar produced a memorable performance that saw him singlehandedly deny the league champions on several occasions.
Center-half: Eliassou Issiaka (Masri)
The Malian defender put in a sturdy performance at Masri's backline who only conceded twice in five games this month.
He also scored a crucial penalty at Gouna to seal his side's victory before making it two in a 2-0 win over Ittihad the following week.
Left-back: Fouad Salama (MCDR)
A full-back being his team's joint top scorer is not something that happens every day, but Fouad Salama's tremendous long-range drives and faultless penalties helped Tarek Yehia's men to sixth spot so far in the league standings.
Defensive midfielder: Hossam Ashour (Ahli)
It had to be the Ahli's defensive midfielder earning the best player in his position after being acclaimed by Egypt boss Bob Bradley for his consistent displays.
The 26-year-old, who has been a regular in the Cairo giants' midfield throughout the month, usually shoulders defensive duties on his own in Ahli's midfield, thanks to his outstanding tenacity.
Attacking midfielder: Abdullah Al-Saied (Ahli)
The set-piece specialist managed to justify his mega transfer from Ismaili by scoring some tremendous goals for the Reds, including a trade-mark freekick against Military Production and an exquisite opener in the win over Smouha.
Attacking midfielder: Ahmed Eid (Harras Hodoud)
He heavily contributed to Hodoud's historic 12-match winning streak which saw the Alexandrians amass maximum points from four games this month to retain the league summit.
Eid hit seven goals so far for his club so far and is strongly poised to regain his place with the Egypt national team.
Striker: Razak Omotoyossi (Zamalek)
The Benin international proved to be a successful signing for Zamalek with his physical attributes and goal-scoring prowess, making light of the absence of star striker Amr Zaki.
Omotoyossi has been involved in most of Zamalek's goals this month with four strikes and an assist.
Striker: Ahmed Raouf (ENPPI)
The 29-year-old tops the league's scoring charts with nine goals after inspiring ENPPI's recent revival under Hossam Al-Badri.
Raouf scored all goals in victories 2-0 and 3-0 wins over Smouha and Arab Contractors respectively before coming off the bench to put in a stellar performance in the famous comeback against Zamalek with a delightful volley and a deft assist.
Striker: Samuel Affum (Smouha)
The 23-year-old Ghanaian will surely be watched by the Black Stars management following a series of sublime goals, including a crucial brace to down Ismaili, a stunner at Ahli, and a cracking opener in the win over MCDR.
