Art at its most glam tonight 30 September at Macy's Artrageous fundraiser
Published in Ahram Online on 30 - 09 - 2011

Macy's latest Artrageous concert and fashion show in LA sets a high mark for fun and fund-raising (see photo gallery), as tonight's San Francisco event is set to kick off 30 September
Macy's Glamorama fundraiser, Artrageous has already had a roaring start in Minneapolis, Chicago and LA. Based on the photos from these events, the finale in San Francisco tonight at 8 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre is sure to be just as outrageous.
The Asian Art Museum hosts the after-party with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, DJ, dancing – very California-style.
Bruno Mars headlines with his hits “Just the Way You Are” and “Grenade,” and home-grown electro-pop quartet Far East Movement, whose latest single “If I Was You” features Snoop Dogg takes up the rest of the spotlight. The night pays a special tribute to the belated AIDS activist, Elizabeth Taylor. This year's event benefits AIDS Emergency Fund, Glide Foundation and Project Open Hand.
“These organisations have a daily impact on those living with HIV/AIDS, providing services, financial support, education, meals and shelter,” says Martine Reardon, executive vice president of marketing and advertising for Macy's.
Among the participants are Armani Jeans, Bar III, Calvin Klein, Papi, Rachel Rachel Roy,Tommy Girl, Kenneth Cole and Tracy Reese.
Sponsors include Gucci Guilty, MAC Viva Glam, Cinta Salon, Grand Hyatt, Intercontinental Mark Hopkins, Don Francisco and ABC.

Macy's, through Passport Presents Glamorama and other programs, has donated more than $29 million to HIV/AIDS services, prevention, education and research.
