Outcast Taarabt returns to Morocco squad for Tanzania game Adel Taarabt returns to Morocco's squad despite abandoning the team's match against Algeria in June
Outcast Adel Taarabt has been included in Morocco's preliminary 34-man squad for the African Cup of Nations qualifier Tanzania despite his disciplinary problems. The 22-year-old, who plays for English Premier League side Queens Park Rangers, stormed out of Morocco's training camp ahead of a Nations Cup qualifier against rivals Algeria in June after being told that he would not start the game. “My exclusion from the national team isn't a big issue. I love my country but I don't like to play in Africa on pitches that are not even pitches, as well as the long trips. It's better for me to spend time with my family,” he said at the time, implying that he might not be available for selection in the future. However, Belgian coach Eric Gerets recalled him for the final Nations Cup qualifier against Tanzania next month. A win over Tanzania at home would be enough to lift Morocco through to next year's Nations Cup finals in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. The Atlas Lions failed to qualify for the 2010 edition in Angola, which was won by seven-time African champions Egypt.
