Giza governor: Israeli embassy a heavy burden and needs to be relocated
The governor of Giza has added his voice to others calling on the Israeli embassy to be moved to another location

In statements to Kuwaiti Annahar newspaper, Ali Abdel Rahman, governor of Giza, has said the location of the Israeli embassy in Giza has become a burden and that the governorate is waiting for an opportunity to request it be transfered elsewhere.
The governor described the current location as hard to secure and that the security measures taken cause significant traffic congestion in an already crowded area.
There were news reports after the storming the embassy at the weekend that an Israeli delegation that came to Cairo to discuss the aftermath of the incident raised the possibility of transferring the embassy to another location, with hints that the location could be Maadi, near the Israeli ambassador's residence.
The location of the Israeli embassy since its opening in the late 1970s in Giza near Cairo University and in front the Egypt's renaissance statue has caused much controversy with many Egyptians, especially university students, considering it a provocation.
Recently the neighbours of Israeli embassy, which is located in a high rise building, have expressed their wish to the media that it be transferred to somewhere else, especially after recent clashes outside the building between protesters and security forces.
