Egypt FA chairman: America's Bradley is the Pharaohs' next coach
Successful US manager Bob Bradley is confirmed as the next leader for the Egyptian national side with his arrival in Cairo expected within days
Published in Ahram Online on 15 - 09 - 2011

Egyptian Football Association (EFA) chairman Samir Zaher has revealed the organisation have chosen American manager Bob Bradley for Egypt's top job.
“We selected Bradley to coach the Egyptian National team after many meeting with other foreigners recently,” Zaher told CNN.
“We are finalising the contracts and will send them to him. We are expecting him to come to the country within days,” he added.
Bradley will succeed the country's most successful coach Hassan Shehata, who hold three successive African Cup of Nations trophies but failed to qualify for the fourth.
The association contacted many foreigner coaches including Colombian Fancisco Maturana, Serbian Zoran Filipović, French coach Hervé Renard and Portuguese Nelo Vingada.
“Bradley was the most flexible in his demands and has a vision and a good strategy to lead Egypt until the 2014 World Cup in Brazil,” Zaher insisted.
“His monthly salary will be $35,000, we think this is fair,”
Bradley, 53, left his post with the US national side last July after leading it to 43 wins, 25 losses and 12 draws in just over four years.
Bradley's achievements as the American coach includes leading the team to the 2009 Confederations Cup final -- after defeating their Egyptian counterparts 3-0 in the group stage -- and also to the final-16 at last year's World Cup in South Africa.
Egypt's Olympic team, under the helm of Hany Ramzy, is replacing the Pharaohs in the two remaining qualifiers as preparation for the 2012 Olympics. They were defeated 2-1 by Sierra Leone and will host Niger in the last round.
“Bradley is a great coach and promises to enrich the future of Egyptian football,” says goalkeeper coach Zaki Abdel-Fattah, who worked with Bradley for seven years.
