Egypt keeper Essam El-Hadary sustained an injury during Thursday's training that will keep him on the sidelines when the Pharaohs take on Nigeria on Friday in Kaduna in a 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier. The 43-year-old shot-stopper had to pull out of the session after suffering a calf injury. Coach Hector Cuper dropped him from the squad and he is set to undergo scans to determine the extent of the injury. El-Hadary, a key figure in the Pharaohs Nations Cup treble in 2006, 2008 and 2010, has been included in Egypt's squad for the first time since 2014 to replace Ahly's injured keeper Sherif Ekrami. Zamalek's keeper Ahmed El-Shennawi is the number one choice for Cuper, while Petrojet goalie Mohamed El-Shennawi will be on the bench. Egypt are looking to end their Nations Cup drought as they missed the past three editions after winning the last of their record seven titles in 2010.
