Libya's flag of independence has been hoisted at the Libyan embassy in Cairo, today, by a group of diplomats. A group of Libyan protesters have been outside the embassy, clashing with security forces, since last week, demanding that the independence flag be raised in place of the green Gaddafi flag.
Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr announced a short while ago that Egypt now recognises the National Transitional Council as Libya's official representative.
