'I really want to see Elneny more', Arsenal icon Wright tells Wenger Despite playing him in no more than three games, Wenger has more than once expressed confidence in Elneny's calibre and ability to beef up Arsenal's stuttering midfield
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has called on the Gunners' coach to give Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny more playing time in order to save the team's faltering season. "I really want to see Elneny more now," Wright told Fletch and Sav program on BT sport on Monday. "He's someone that came in January and I thought he was coming in to give them a boost and make a difference. "He didn't come on [against Barcelona], Flamini came on and he got a lot of stick for giving away the penalty," he concluded. Since moving to the Emirates Stadium, Elneny under manager Arsene Wenger has only featured in two cup games as well as Arsenal's league defeat by Manchester United last Sunday, when the 23-year-old ace came in as a late substitute. Following a tormenting week, Arsenal's domestic campaign took a turn for the worse as they are now third in the Premier League table with 51 points, five behind unusual leaders Leicester City. Wenger's men also face a stern challenge in the Champions League, having lost to Barcelona 2-0 at home in the first leg last week. Despite playing him in no more than three games, Wenger has more than once expressed confidence in Elneny's calibre and ability to beef up Arsenal's stuttering midfield. Before joining Arsenal, Elneny played on a regular basis for Swiss giants FC Basel, helping them to straight league titles in 2013, 2014 and 2015. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/188838.aspx
