Lazio fined for racist chants towards Senegal defender Koulibaly
Published in Ahram Online on 04 - 02 - 2016

Lazio's Curva Nord will be closed for two games and the club has been fined €50,000 for racist chanting at Napoli's Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly in a Serie A game on Wednesday.
Napoli claimed a 2-0 away win over Lazio on Wednesday to cement their position on the top of the league table with 53 points, two ahead of second-placed Juventus.
According to Italian site Football-italia, referee Massimiliano Irrati noted in his report that "from the first minute of the second half, every time the black player number 26 of Napoli [Koulibaly] played the ball in front of the Curva Nord, chants like ‘ooh-ooh' were directed at him, with the intention being unequivocally racist."
The 20-year-old Koulibaly, who represented France on youth level, opted for Senegal and made his debut with the Senegalese national team last September when Senegal defeated Namibia in a Nations Cup qualifier.
Koulibaly joined Napoli from Belgium side Genk in the summer of 2014 and made 19 appearances with the Serie A leaders this season so far.
Lazio's winger Keita Balde expressed his support for the Senegalese defender, saying he has “so much admiration” for Koulibaly.
"This game is much more than black, white or green," Balde posted on his Instagram account. "So much admiration for you, my friend."
