Sufis and Copts prepare to rally for a civil state in Egypt
On Friday, Sufis and Copts will come together to call for a civil state, and perhaps set a record for the largest group breakfast ever

30 groups composed of Sufi orders, Coptic institutions and liberal political forces have called for a mass Iftar (breaking of the fast) in Tahrir square on Friday 12 August.
Sufis and political allies have called the event: In Love of Revolutionary Egypt. They hope to promote civil state and basic democratic freedoms in order to counter the rising tide of Islamic conservatives who have rallied in large numbers last week for the establishment of a religious state.
Well known Sufi singers, Christian choirs as well as performers such as Ali El-Haggar, Azza Balbea, Rami Essam will hold a concert in the square following Iftar.
Organizers said that they hope to break a new Guiness book of records by mobilizing the largest number of people for a public Iftar in the history of the Muslim world.
