Pierre Lechantre, who led Cameroon to the Africa Nations Cup title in 2000, was on Wednesday named Congo's new coach. He takes charge of the team following the departure of compatriot Claude Leroy, who refused to renew his contract. Lechantre has signed a two-year contract and he will start his mission next week as Congo are preparing for a double African Nations Cup qualifier against Zambia. Congo are leading Group E in the Nations Cup qualifiers with four points, three ahead of second-placed Kenya.
