Zamalek have agreed to sell Ivorian striker Abou Kone to El-Geish, the Cairo giants said on Wednesday. “The club have accepted El-Geish's offer to sign Kone for $100, 000,” Zamalek said in a brief statement on their official website. The 28-year-old has failed to prove his worth since joining Zamalek from El-Entag El-Harby last summer. He could only score one Egyptian Premier League goal, a superb overhead kick in the opening 2-2 draw with Harras El-Hodoud. He was criticized in the latter stages of the season after wasting a host of clear-cut goalscoring opportunities in crucial games as Zamalek surrendered a six-point lead at the top to gift arch-rivals Ahly a seventh successive league title. Kone is the first foreign player Zamalek offload in the close season. Algerian striker Mohamed Aoudia, who joined the White Knights last January, is expected to follow in his footsteps and leave the club. Zamalek have already signed Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan on a free transfer after his contract with Ahly expired. They are chasing several high-profile players, including Hassan's Egypt teammate Hosni Abd-Rabou as new coach Hassan Shehata seeks to overhaul Zamalek's squad to help the team end a seven-year league drought.
