Ahly's Mustafa “Afroto” Selim, Mohamed Samir and Abdullah Abdel-Azim will spend the year in Alexandria.
The champions of the first Egyptian Premier League post-revolution, Ahly, have agreed to move three players: Mustafa “Afroto” Selim, defender Mohamed Samir and winger Abdullah Abdel-Azim on a one-year loan deal to Ittihad of Alexandria for a total amount of LE 1.2 million ($254,000).
The 22-year-old Afroto was linked with a summer move away from Egyptian Premier League winners, Ahly, after reports suggested that Portuguese coach Manuel Jose no longer wanted him at the club. However, Ahly announced he signed a new four-year deal with them and will be loaned to Ittihad.
The coastal club remained in the top flight after Egyptian Football Association (EFA) cancelled the relegation system this season. The security problems of the 25 January Revolution paused the football activities and soon the clubs saw themselves in a financial crisis.
A new source of funding for the club, which was established in 1906, has been found.
Their president Effat El-Sadat announced that their new Spanish coach will arrive in Alexandria next week to start leading the team for next season.
