Mobinil became the first mobile operator outside Spain to sign a partnership agreement with the Spanish football league (La Liga), the Egyptian company has announced.
Mobinil, which is part of the Orange group, said in a statement it would provide a variety of services to La Liga's Egyptian fans, many of whom are passionate in their support of leading duo Barcelona and Real Madrid.
"The partnership entails Mobinil as LaLiga's official mobile operator in Egypt, offering exclusively to football lovers from Mobinil customers the latest news & content of all the Spanish Clubs playing in the Spanish League, including FC Barcelona, Real Madrid C.F., Atletico Madrid, and many more," the company said.
"Mobinil has a long history in supporting sports, especially football, whether international or local. With this strong partnership with LaLiga, one of the best football leagues in the world, we will provide our customers with ongoing entertainment through exclusive interactive experience with the most popular Spanish clubs' activities."
The popularity of Spanish football in Egypt has notably risen during the past 10 years, with fans usually filling cafes to watch El Claisco, the famous match between Barcelona and Real Madrid which is not less important than the Ahly-Zamalek Cairo derby in the football-mad country.
"Mobinil, part of Orange Group is the first ever deal with a telecommunications partner outside of Spain and the first 3 year partnership in MENA. We're the best league in the world, we have the best clubs in the world and so we go hand-in-hand with the best brands in the world," said Adolfo Bara, La Liga's marketing director.
"We hope that this union helps us in our quest to become the leading global league of the future."
