Despite a famous shirt tantrum that eventually cost him his place at English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, Ahly midfielder Hossam Ghaly said he hopes Martin Jol would take charge of his team's Cairo rivals Zamalek. Egyptian reports linked Zamalek with Dutch tactician Jol, who was Tottenham's manager when Ghaly threw the Spurts shirt to the ground after being substituted in a UEFA Cup game in 2007. Ghaly, a talented central midfielder, was heavily criticized by Tottenham fans for that incident and was eventually shown the door. "In fact, I did not throw the shirt in his face. The camera's angle was deceiving and he [Jol] told me after the incident that he understood my anger," the 33-year-old told Ahly's television channel. "My relationship with Jol is good although there is no communication between us. I hope he comes to Egypt and take charge of Zamalek." Jol, 59, has been out of job since leaving fellow English side Fulham in December 2013. Ghaly, who is no stranger to controversy, was stripped of Ahly's captaincy in May after he kicked the skipper's armband to the ground after being sent off in an Egyptian Premier League game against Haras El-Hodoud. However, the club decided to re-name him as the captain earlier this week after he was widely praised for his leadership qualities. "I can't describe my happiness, especially with the reaction of my teammates who were equally happy with the club's decision. This is the spirit that always drives us to glories," Ghaly added.
